Diddling
I’ve done some preliminary diddling with some other blog software. Look forward to changes in the next few days.
Also I hope you get lots of presents and eat lots of turkey. My forecast is showing a high of 75°F and thunderstorms, so maybe I’ll have a Christmas with vile weather just like all those Northerners.

HLSL: Wavebottom
This shader makes the bottom portion of the frame (defined by the split variable, gently waving up and down by default) a wavy reflection of the top part composited with the unfiltered bottom part, with both frequency and opacity of the wavy reflection becoming less pronounced towards the bottom of the frame.

HLSL: UV swap
This shader swaps the U and V channels in the YUV color space with a single matrix multiplication. The constants in the matrix are calculated based on wikipedia’s RGB -> YUV matrix, the corresponding YUV -> RGB matrix, and the simple reversing matrix R obtained by:
Take the 4x4 identity matrix I
Swap the second and third rows (corresponding to U and V).
Multiply the three...

The Classics
I got tired of the Mercenaries soundtrack, so I fired up Odelay by Beck. It’s a true classic, diverse yet cohesive.
Slammed through my Geography final today, checked through my Automata take-home and I’m pretty pleased. Software System Development (C# class) won’t pose a problem, so the hard part of my semester’s over.
Saw somebody on campus today I haven’t seen...

Haxed
Yesterday was the iCTF game. Needless to say, it was crazy, intense, and lots of things went wrong. However, much to our suprise, we did pretty well for a bunch of rookies: (We’re WCSC).
It was quite different than what I expected. I thought that teams would have about three flags on their machine at a time, and get new ones every half hour. However, it was more like ten at a time,...

There Must Be Food
I kind of made a declaration on the ACM officer’s mailserv about competition meetings for next year:
There must be couches or some absurdly comfortable seating.
Shared computer, possibly a projector. Notebooks isolate everybody, but if everybody’s working off the same code and talking about it, there’ll be more learning.
Food/drinks. Even if it’s just snacks,...

Calendar Update
I’ve got my spring stuff up on my hideous crime against style calendar.
The red stuff is tentative, gotta run it by the boss first :)

Blueberry Cookies
I went to a leadership conference today, thanks to the two clubs I’m in needing leaders (and not just executives). It was pretty fun, they got too much food so now I have tomorrow’s breakfast done before sundown.
I’m really (really) excited about the CTF competition on Friday. Zap’s letting me borrow his old x86 laptop that actually has working card slots, so I’m...
